Events Index
This page is designed partly to make it easier to view the photos but also to provide some explanation in the form of context to some of the more random shots.
This page will develop as I get around to adding new things (and more photos get added). In the meantime however the following is a list (in a rather random date order) of various happenings and places of interest along with their descriptions.
Places
- Bath - A few scenic photos of my university town, Bath.
- Many Trips to the Imperial - Our local (Exeter) branch of Wetherspoons. We have been there too many times to list each individually so here are our adventures in one drunken heap.
- Home; Devon - Photos from back home that don't include ones in the Imperial :)
- Random photos from our 2nd year House - Including clasics like 'Simon perving at the router' and 'Simon dancing with a stolen crocodile'.
- Many Norwood photos - (from the 1st year) Lots of different events, one venue... Norwood 9!
- Slightly fewer Quarry photos - Who could guess from the varying volumes of photos that I actually lived in Quarry 4 and not in my adopted kitchen Norwood 9.
Events
- Marathon weekend - These photos were taken with Chris's snazzy phone-camera. It was on the weekend of much coursework and very little sleep. With three deadlines due on the same day [and that not even being the last of the coursework by a long way] most of the peeps in the computer science department camped out in the library. There were about 20-30 of us - Simon and I were clever enough to bring our sleeping bags and toothbrushes etc - catching about 20 mins sleep a night if we were lucky. It was very stressful, having arrived Sunday morning and left Tuesday evening (as well as a few all night-ers and mainly late - 4am-ish - nights in the weeks leading up to this.) It wasn't all bad though, every now and then to relieve tension from the work we would have manic chair races round the library and other such odd activities. The result was completed coursework and a fun [if tiring] weekend. Keep an eye out for the coursework on the Uni projects page.
- Birthday party at the Hobgoblin - Photos courtesy of Richard, because I was very clever when getting ready ... I remembered to put the bateries in my camera and everything, I just forgot the memory card!. The photos are a mix of photos in the hob and back at mine after. Party was technicaly a joint one with Tony and Tom, though in actual fact Milli's birthday was a few days before too, Andy's, Mark's and Laura's were just a week or so before as well!
- Frolicking at and before the Fez - When Sammy and Gemma came to visit; much wine, videos, pizza ... Then we headed off to the Fez with some nice friendly randoms [Ross, Ali & Danny] for dancing, aftershocks, and much frivolity.
- Ian's Birthday - Most of these pictures were taken by Lacey. It was Simon's mate Ian's birthday, so me and Si just popped up to Wales for an evening; which included much drunken monopoly. Not being a dog person myself, their dog Toby [a really fluffy cute thing] took some getting used to.
- Hedgehog Rescue - (13th April 2003) The cutest hedgehog ever crawled its way into our garden the other day. Its back legs were hurt, so we looked after it for a bit (it ate 3 saucers of cat-food!) then we took it [now named Hedgie McHog] to the Prickly ball farm Hedgehog hospital in North Devon.
- My 20th Birthday party - (12th April 2003) For our 20th birthday's, Me and Hannah had a joint party. I know it didn't take place actually on either birthday but as we both had to head back to university we wanted to celibrate with our mates from back home. Started out at 2pm in the Imperial where, being a bit on the chilly side Hannah set fire to the ashtray. Back at mine, people who came were Hannah, Ros, Dave, Sam, Gemma, Jimmy, Iain. It was a great party that involved lots of food and the making of our own pizzas (a very messy business).
- TimepieceAtEaster - Hannah invited us out to celibrate the birthday of a friend of hers, however as the friend had been wisked off to Mexico by her boyfriend, we celibrated in her absence. The Timepiece is a cute little club in Exeter, really chilled with a pub downstairs and various music types on different nights. Tonight [Tuesday] was supposed to be 80s cheese, was more dancy than anything else but was a cool night all the same. Hannah went a bit wild with the camera :p
- ImperialAtEaster - Just another random trip to the Imperial. :)
- Hamster Show - (5th April 2003) A mate of mine, Louise exhibited her cute hamster [Kola] in a hamster show in Dawlish. Being only a baby, Kola did very well for her 18 months.
- Toga Party - Every year the University Rag people hold a Toga party where cheap drinks are to be had in every pub, and alomost everyone out on the town that night is in a Toga. It was not surprising then, that when me and Si went to find togas; the whole town had sold out of white flat bed sheets.
- Richard's Birthday - (1st March 2003) A really good night; these photos are of Richard's surprise birthday party. We all met in the Rat and Parrot at 8, started on the cocktails then waited. Tristan and Jason brought Richard down, and we gave him the present; a super cool rocket that takes photos! (and a small supply of cookies). After moving on to The Green Tree (and sampling their 6% cider), we par-took of (feta) kebabs. Back at Richard's we then watched 'True Lies', chatting 'til 4am.
- Amsterdam trip Jan 2003 - A trip organised by the Bath Museum appreciation society, 3 days spent in Amsterdam at the end of consolidation week to recover from the exams before the rush of lectures started again. Simon and I had a great time - we went to the Rijksmuseum and a canal trip (there are many canals in Amsterdam). Amsterdam is a very pretty city, but it is not possible to do all you want in a day (and 2 halves), so we definitely plan to go back again for longer some time.
- New Years 02/03 - Only a few (well one actually) photos here at the moment, more are sure to follow as I get relevant permissions :p
- Christmas 2002 - Simon came back to mine for christmas again this year, we had santa sacks and snow!
- Visiting Sam - Simon, Jane and I visited Sam in Southampton, where we saw Idlewild. There are only 3 (rather random) photos in this category.
- Halloween 2002 - This year I organised the Nemesis Halloween pub 'tour' which, even though we didn't join it ourselves till later in the evening, went very well. Simon dressed as a rather scary bed sheet! My favourite photo here is either the cute one of me, Jane and Maria, or the other cute one of Si and me. (The thumbnails in this category look a bit weird because for some reason photoshop did odd things, the actual photos are fine though!)
- When Sam came to visit - These are the photos taken when Sam came up to visit at the begining of term. Including photos of the attack of the tie dye and ones of before we went out to Babylon.
- Family Holiday 2002 - For our 2002 Family Holiday we went to the South of France in Carcassonne near Toulouse. Carcassonne is a very lovely city with the most amazing walled medieval castle which was very pretty. This section also includes some random camping shots and some from the mediteranian coast. During Our time there me and my sister went white water rafting in the Pyrenees mountains, also our family took a trip to Andorra, a very lovely small country which shares it's borders with both France and Spain. We stopped off at Futuroscope; a very modern exhibition of film and architecture, on the way to the ship home. (again, the thumbnails for this category are dodgy, the photos are ok and I have fixed the problem for the future now.)
- Glastonbury 2002 - Although me and Simon almost didn't manage to go, due to forgetfullness in booking the tickets, we made it by a shear fluke in luck; I won tickets (with backstage passes, a tent, sleeping bags, camping gear, smellies ect) from the local radio station! So we packed our bags and off we went. It was a fantastic weekend the weather was lovely and sunny for the majority of the time with only a little cloud. Saw lots of bands including Garbage, Faithless and Rolf Harris (who definitely stole the show) We also saw the politican Tony Benn in the leftfield tent, and we found a photo on the official festival website where if you look closely on the lefthand side, propped up against the bar in a blue shirt, is Pete, drinking beer. After the festival we came home smelling slightly, but happy. Am planning to go to Glastonbury Festival again this year - hoping that it is on.
- Visiting Pete - Photos from when me and Si went to visit Pete at Warwick University, (we went to a beach party at the union)
- Biology pub crawl - One photo with a category all to itself. Our last night out before breaking up for summer 2002 was with the Biology society (Bio-soc) of which our friend and housemate Jane is chairman. There are more photos of random bio-soc events, not sure if its the same pub-crawl on there or not.
- My 19th birtday - As I was at uni for my actual birthday, me and my mates had a party back home. There are photos (in existence, just not on here) of my party at University which started at 11:30am and promptly finished at about 8pm that day, when I had to be rushed to hospital in a taxi having just walked into a door.
- Paul and Simon's DJ debut - Paul and Simon played rather random music at Disorder (now known as ), including bits of 'Carmina Burana' at double speed. Lots of random fluffy hat-ness too.
- Paris Hitch-hike 2002 - All started so well nice sign all ready to go, map, packed bag and everything - a team with a plan... which failed miserably as it turned out (read the photo descriptions in order to find out why). 80 miles in the wrong direction! ended up back home in Exeter and my parents drove us back to Bath! ... will try harder this year (2003).
- The Back to School night - Most people have funny photos from their very own back to school night, these are mine...
- Maria and 'The Pringles' - I can't remember whoes pringles they were, but after a drink or so the proceedings were very funny...
- When Hannah came to visit - We all went to Babylon (Discord) on a Thursday, these are the photos from that night.
- The Rag Ball 2001 - A chance to dress up and wear a posh frock :) The Rag ball is a yearly event held at the Cheltenham race course, with a variety of different activities, eg a fairground and a casino. It is held so early in the term that I was looking for dresses in freshers week with my then housemates.
- Halloween 2001 - Muchos pumpkin and dressing up. Then Simon and I went on the Nemesis Halloween pub-crawl, but ended up in a posh indian restaurant.
- Kates - When I went to tea at my cousin Kate's house.
